Tenosynovitis from guitar playing
Tenosynovitis is a medical condition very similar to Tendonitis and is mainly caused by the over use of a particular tendon. It can also be classed as a form of repetitive strain injury (RSI).
For guitar players this condition can effect the wrist, hand and fingers. This can be due to many factors however it is likely to be caused by an excessive volume of playing or practice relative to a period of time. Beginners can be at risk as the body needs to adjust and “train” for the required workload to play guitar. Speed guitar work can also cause these effects.
If you suffer from these symptoms then please consult your doctor!
Depending on the symptoms and severity, it is likely that rest will be the cure.
So slow down and reduce the volume of playing and practice.
